DEI UV

The Doctoral Program in Interdisciplinary Studies in Thought, Culture, and Society (DEI-UV) emerged within the framework of the University of Valparaíso's Performance-Based Agreement for Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences (CDHACS – Convenio de Desempeño para las Humanidades, Artes y Ciencias Sociales). The initiative is a public response to compensate for the shortage of researchers on relevant national and regional issues from an interdisciplinary perspective, meaning an approach that combines and integrates different fields of knowledge. Thus, the program is characterized by mobilizing and articulating differentiated methodological perspectives, promoting collaborative scientific production, and applying research techniques and intervention in diverse contexts and levels of action, both nationally and internationally.

The program incorporates various faculties, including Humanities, Architecture, Medicine, and Law and Social Sciences; as well as numerous majors, including Pedagogy in History and Social Sciences, Pedagogy in Philosophy, Sociology, Music, Film, Theater, Psychology, and Social Work. The program has been accredited by the National Accreditation Commission (CNA) for a period of two years, which began on November 25, 2015 and must be renewed by November 25, 2017.
